More than just a family outing!
Wow! What a production! We were transported back in time as the actors were awesome and portrayed their personae perfectly! The musical was exceptional! My husband and I attended the play " nothing less' written by Ami McKay and and directed by Kenneth Schwartz . We also had our daughter , her husband and their two teenage daughters. The weather was excellent for an outdoor show and we all enjoyed it immensely!
Superb theatre and a unique evening!
My Mother, wife and I decided at the last minute to take in a performance of "Nothing Less" by the TWO PLANK theatre company at Ross Creek. We opted for the picnic dinner and show and were thrilled that we did so. The dinner was a small salad with two pork sausage pies and a glass of wine/beer/lemonade. Desert was a warm, delicious apple cake. We were very satisfied with the amount and quality of the food. It was served on the small patio outside the (also small) box office - delivered to each of us in a lovely small picnic basket. The package included back rests for the performance - strongly recommend getting these ($3 each) if you don't get the full package as the bleacher seating might otherwise be uncomfortable. The staff transported my elderly mother to/from the stage area on a golf cart - that was good as it was a fair distance to walk. The show itself, however, was the real treat. The actors were uniformly talented and professional - the play, about womens' struggle to get the vote, was moving and amusing. There were musical and dramatic scenes - all extremely well done. We would recommend this out of the way place to anyone and everyone, and we hope/intend to return ourselves.
We recently watched A Midsummer's Night Dream there. It was performed around a campfire. The setting was very different but it was quite amazing! If you are in the area I would recommend seeing if they have any performance scheduled and check it out. It is an easy 10 minute drive from Canning.

A wonderful venue and an absolutely wonderful play
Where to start - if you are anywhere near this venue in August, in the Annapolis Valley, do not miss their production of Nothing Less. The cast, the script, the unbelievable talent, the direction are "awesome". Can you tell - I loved it. Great story, great or should I say, wonderful setting.
My first Ross Creek production and, wow, not my last.

Wonderful outdoor theater
We go to the outdoor plays here every summer & count it one of the high spots of our summer. Ross Creek is in a truly stunning location, & the theater company uses the grounds to such good effect! The cast is always solid, the interpretations are good-hearted, & there are always a couple of genuinely excellent actors whose performances elevate the plays from merely fun & pleasant (which I'd still see!) to stirring &/or memorable. This year we stayed at the Planters Barracks B&B so that we could see the "firelight" (9 - 10:45 pm) show without having to drive a long ways home, & it's a combination I recommend. The Midsummer Nights Dream is really charming.
