Fall and Winter Programs

Welcome to a fabulous series of arts programs designed to inspire your teen in theatre, music, dance, visual arts, craft, writing, film and architecture. We operate various programs for teens afterschool and on weekends at the centre, each season.

PORTFOLIO PROGRAM

Each fall, we operate a Portfolio Program for teens who want to improve their visual arts skills and perhaps go to Art School, challenging and guiding students into College placement and scholarships.

Dates: 2rd of October - 27th of November 2011
Time: Sundays from noon-4 pm
Cost: $250 INC HST(some materials included)
Grades: 11-12 or 14 years and up.

Be the artist you want to be, whether prepping for art school or simply getting better at something you love. Running Sundays for eight sessions in our professional studios, this program gives you everything you need, including a tour of NSCAD and critique of your portfolio with Prof. Gene Daniels, Chair of the Foundation Year Program.

Includes guidance about different programs across Canada. The sessions build on the student’s existing skill level. We emphasize the quality and range of works presented, including sculpture, painting, large scale drawing and print making all under the guidance of our Education Director. We work with students on admission essays and how to present for scholarships. There is also access to a shared studio for their work if extra time is needed between sessions.

Includes transportation for a tour of NSCAD University.

THEATRE FOR TEENS
Begins October 2, Sundays from noon-4pm. Work at becoming an actor under the expert and hilarious guidance of Two Planks and a Passion Theatre’s award-winning director and theatre coach, Ken Schwartz. You will work with scripts, improv, physical theatre and more to develop a unique voice. Special instruction and projects for those wishing to audition for theatre school.

Grades: 11-12 or 14 years and up.
