Glorious Getaway for 6
Jason Roth and Cheryl Steadman-Roth have graciously donated six days/five nights (Sunday-Friday with noon checkout) in a three-bedroom townhouse at the Wentworth Inn in Jackson, New Hampshire, with mountain views overlooking the golf course. Christopher Porter is a renowned street and fine art photographer and cinematographer based in Lunenburg Nova Scotia. Having worked on films like Brokeback Mountain and The Shipping News, he made the move to fine art photography and settled in Nova Scotia, but his work showcases the globe. This evocative portrait of two men in China’s clandestine kiss was caught by Christopher on the street and is a wonderful example of his fabulous eye for photographs that capture the human spirit. Sara Hartland-Rowe is a painter and installation artist who has lived and worked in Halifax since 2000. She has shown across Canada, in the US, and in Europe, and is the recipient of grants from the Canada Council, Arts Nova Scotia, the Ontario Arts Council. Recently, she completed a large-scale permanent site-based commission for Halifax Transit that was short-listed for the Lieutenant-Governor’s Award; her work is in public and private collections. She is also, just simply, one of our favourite people. She was our first artist in residence at the Centre, and she is our esteemed mentor for our teen visual arts academy. Her work is both intuitive and evocative and highly examined. Sara uses her work to investigate an idea, and the viewer is the beneficiary of her thoughtfulness and artistry. Valued at $700 |
