March Break is for Exploring!
Monday
Art of Winter Survival
This is a day dedicated to the art of winter survival. Have a great time learning all the basics building your own shelter, building a fire for warmth, and learning how to find food. Make great friends and explore the farm, forest and campgrounds of Ross Creek while you’re here. Have a blast while learning from our outdoor survival expert!
Get in the Act
One thing Ross Creek knows is great theatre! This one day workshop is for all young actors that want to sharpen up their improv and theatre game techniques! This will be a great day! You will learn how to snap in and out of different characters at a moment’s notice. Laugh, shout and play.
Tuesday
BBOY Break Down
You’ve heard about it, you’ve seen it, now try it! With no experience necessary, you get to learn the basics of BBoy/ BGirl dance. You’ll soon be able to throw down moves and to battle. Learn how to funk up your dance techniques.
Quick Draw
This one day workshop is for those that want to add PIZZAZZ to their drawing skills. You will learn technical tricks to get your line, form and perspective looking great! Enhance skills you already have and learn new ones.
Wednesday
Paint with Passion
Would you like to learn to paint? Then you’ve come to the right place. This workshop will teach you the basics and show you great techniques to boost your skills. You will learn about different brushes, painting styles, and explore different kinds of paints.
Aliens Alive
Are they out there? If so then how did they get here? ALIENS ALIVE will be an excellent day filled with stories, art and adventure. Campers will explore crazy spaceship design, create their own aliens and make great new friends. No need to phone home today!
Thursday
Daring Design
For hundreds of years, posters have been displayed in public places around the world. Visually striking, they have been designed to attract the attention of passers-by. This is going to be a great workshop! Learn new drawing and printing techniques, learn about typefaces, and how to bring it all together the old fashioned way, creating posters that are all the rage!
Troll Hunters
There is a Scandinavian folk belief that lightning frightens away Trolls and sunlight turns them to stone, but is this true? Come join us and explore Troll myths through folklore and legend. You’ll spend the day creating your own Trolls, learning where they live, and why they are so ugly and angry!
Friday
Drum Dream
This one day introduction into hand drumming with our great percussion artist will leave you wanting to drum more. This will be a perfect day of sound, drums and fun. You’ll learn about some different kinds of drums and how to play them.
Perfect Print
During this awesome day, campers will explore Ross Creek’s 178 acres of farm, forest and summer camp for cool inspirations for printmaking. They will turn stones, look under logs, follow footprints, and find brilliant natural objects of nature to create amazing print works of art. Campers will learn techniques such as relief printing and mono-printing, and find new ways to create art from the environment.
Week-Long
Runway Fashions
Our fashion programs are so fabulous that this March Break we’ve decided to run one for the whole week. Can you imagine the cool things you’ll learn? How about the awesome things you’ll create? Sew up a storm, become a tie dye dynamo, and turn frenchies clothes into high fashion! Fashion show ends the week at 5 pm on Friday.
How much does camp cost?
All Day Camps are $60 each or $275 for all 5 days of fun. The week-long Theatre and Fashion camps are also $275.
What Time does camp Run?
Camp runs from 9 – 5
Arts Bus
The Arts Bus runs during March Break and will travel throughout the Valley to make it easier for parents to get their children to Ross Creek. There are only 14 seats, so first come first served. Bus service is an additional $10 a day, regardless of whether taken both ways. It is supported by O’Regan’s, Clean Nova Scotia and Michelin.
Bus fills fast, so please call to check on bus availability.
Bursaries and Scholarships
We are pleased to offer full and half bursaries and scholarships for students who need financial aid. Bursary applications require letters of reference, so please apply early. Bursary decisions are made by a committee and are based on need and merit. We regret that we cannot give full bursaries to all students, but try to assist as many children and families as we can through the generosity of corporations, businesses, individuals and some schools.
