March Break is for Exploring!
The Art of Winter Survival
This is a day dedicated to the art of winter survival. Have a great time learning all the basics—building your own shelter, starting a fire for warmth, and learning how to find food. Make great friends and explore the farm, forest, and grounds of Ross Creek while you’re here. Have a blast while learning from our outdoor survival expert!
Get in the Act
One thing Ross Creek knows is great theatre! This one-day workshop is for all young actors that want to sharpen their improv skills and theatre game techniques! Learn how to snap in and out of different characters at a moment’s notice, and spend the day working hard and laughing harder!
Stories about the craziest billy goats, foxes and of course rabbits and mice are fun, but we’ll make our own new fairytales together and illustrate our very own book for you to take home!
Calling all young architects and builders! You’ll see some amazing works by architects to get you inspired, then, using mixed media materials like cardboard, paper, paint, and found objects, you will fire up your imaginations and build a 3-dimensional model form. Along the way, you will learn the basics of architecture.
Bring your work off the page! This sculpture workshop will have you working with found objects, from nature and from our collection of great materials, to allow you to create some amazing works of three dimensional art.
Popular culture has lots of different artistic ideas of what an alien might look like – we’ll explore these and learn to make our own aliens in art!
Explore the power and beauty of clay in this sculpture class designed so you can take a piece home at the end of the day.
Dragons and Dwarves
Hobbits get all the attention, but here you’ll make your own underground creatures in writing, drawing and sculpture – we’ll even break for elevenses!
We’ll explore the forest to gather materials, then make a beautiful framed print from natural materials to hang or give away!
We’ll look at rockets and robots in science and art, and you’ll get to make your own very own rocket and blast it off!
How much does camp cost?
All Day Camps are $65 each or $295 for all 5 days of fun.
What Time does camp Run?
Camp runs from 9 – 5
The Arts Bus runs during March Break and will travel throughout the Valley to make it easier for parents to get their children to Ross Creek. There are only 14 seats, so first come first served. Bus service is an additional $15 a day, regardless of whether taken both ways. It is supported by O’Regan’s and Clean Nova Scotia and The Ecology Action Centre. Bus fills fast, so please call to check on bus availability.
Bursaries and Scholarships
We are pleased to offer full and half bursaries and scholarships for students who need financial aid. Bursary applications require letters of reference, so please apply early. Bursary decisions are made by a committee and are based on need and merit. We regret that we cannot give full bursaries to all students, but try to assist as many children and families as we can through the generosity of corporations, businesses, individuals and some schools. Bursary applications for March Break are available by clicking here. The deadline for submissions is DECEMBER 1.
