Get in the Act
One thing Ross Creek knows is great theatre! This one-day workshop is for all young actors that want to sharpen their improv skills and theatre game techniques! Learn how to snap in and out of different characters at a moment’s notice, and spend the day working hard and laughing harder!
This one day workshop is for those that want to add PIZZAZZ to their drawing skills. You will learn great technical tricks to get your line, form and perspective looking great! You’ll enhance skills you already have and learn new ones!
A CRASH course in the best that Urban art has to offer is here at Ross Creek. Come on up and join us in this amazing workshop. This workshop will show you the basic techniques in painting, including the use of spray paints, stencilling and designing graphic fonts.
How to set, plan, build and finish your own extended story. This one day workshop will help you create atmospheric settings, memorable characters and gripping plots. This workshop will give you all the skills and inspiration you need to tell your story!
During the course of the day campers will explore the environment as inspiration for printmaking. Campers will go on an exploratory walk around the centre grounds and use what they find to create amazing prints. Campers will learn techniques such as relief printing with styrofoam, and mono printing. Personal creativity is encouraged, while developing skills and knowledge of materials.
Come for the day and build your own instrument and create music to your ears with the rest of your fellow MarchBreak campers. You will work in groups, discover what other weird and wacky instruments exist and see how people from the around the globe make cool and fun instruments out of fun, every day stuff. If that was not crazy enough, at the end of the day campers will perform their DIY Band hit to the other group.
Bring your work off the page! This sculpture workshop will have you working with found objects, from nature and from our collection of great materials, to allow you to create some amazing works of three dimensional art.
This is a day dedicated to the art of winter survival. Have a great time learning all the basics—building your own shelter, starting a fire for warmth, and learning how to find food. Make great friends and explore the farm, forest, and grounds of Ross Creek while you’re here. Have a blast while learning from our outdoor survival expert!
Calling all young architects and builders! You’ll see some amazing works by architects to get you inspired, then, using mixed media materials like cardboard, paper, paint, and found objects, you will fire up your imaginations and build a 3-dimensional model form. Along the way, you will learn the basics of architecture.
Create your own cool jewellery in one day with new techniques and materials. You’ll design necklaces, bracelets and earrings all in one day. Learn how to incorporate wire and stones into your designs to create beautiful treasures or gifts!
How much does camp cost?
All Day Camps are $65 each or $295 for all 5 days of fun.
What Time does camp Run?
Camp runs from 9 – 5
The Arts Bus runs during March Break and will travel throughout the Valley to make it easier for parents to get their children to Ross Creek. There are only 14 seats, so first come first served. Bus service is an additional $15 a day, regardless of whether taken both ways. It is supported by O’Regan’s and Clean Nova Scotia and The Ecology Action Centre. Bus fills fast, so please call to check on bus availability.
Bursaries and Scholarships
We are pleased to offer full and half bursaries and scholarships for students who need financial aid. Bursary applications require letters of reference, so please apply early. Bursary decisions are made by a committee and are based on need and merit. We regret that we cannot give full bursaries to all students, but try to assist as many children and families as we can through the generosity of corporations, businesses, individuals and some schools.
