New designers are going back to creating handmade posters with woodblocks and cool typefaces to get you to a concert, a piece of theatre, or a rally. In little more than a hundred years, posters have come to be recognized as a vital art form. Try your hand at making your own posters the old fashioned way.

Tuesday

Winter Wilderness
Winter presents unique challenges in wilderness survival situations. Guided by our naturalist, learn about winter survival and see the land in a whole new way, while having a blast! Learn all the basics: building your own shelter, building a fire for warmth, and learning how to find food, all in one day!

Wednesday

Ghost Writer (with bestselling author & Ross Creek Fellow, Ami McKay)
Learn how to set, plan, build, and finish your own extended story. This one day workshop will help you create atmospheric settings, memorable characters and gripping plots. If you have a love of literature and wonder how to make your words even better, join us for this one day primer.

ArtBots!
Create simple robots from scrap electronics you could find around the house. Set them free to make art of their own and discover the joys and possibilities of robotics.

Thursday

Musicology
This fab one-day workshop is about bringing young musicians together and learning the basics of how to write great music and great lyrics. Come join us and see what you can really do. All instruments, voices, and styles are welcome.

Sculpture Basics
Working with clay you will learn all the basics to sculpture from
self portraits, to modelling right to abstract. Come prepared for crazy creations and modelling mayhem! If you ever wanted to try your hand at sculpture then this is for you!

Friday 

Urban Art
A CRASH course in the best that urban art has to offer is here at Ross Creek. Come on up and join us to learn the basic techniques in positive painting, including the use of spray paints, stencilling, and designing graphic fonts.

Week-Long Program

Passion Theatre
Welcome to Passion Theatre! This is Ross Creek’s flagship week-long theatre camp. You will spend the week working, learning, and creating with our professional Theatre Director, Ken Schwartz. You will cover improv, scripting, audition techniques, and creative movement. You will collectively collaborate on a piece of theatre which will then be performed at the end of the week. This is an awesome week of new friends, laughter, and creative craziness!

How much does camp cost?

All Day Camps are $60 each or $275 for all 5 days of fun. The week-long Theatre and Fashion camps are also $275.

What Time does camp Run?

Camp runs from 9 – 5

Arts Bus
The Arts Bus runs during March Break and will travel throughout the Valley to make it easier for parents to get their children to Ross Creek. There are only 14 seats, so first come first served. Bus service is an additional $10 a day, regardless of whether taken both ways.  It is supported by O’Regan’s, Clean Nova Scotia and Michelin.
Bus fills fast, so please call to check on bus availability.

Bursaries and Scholarships

We are pleased to offer full and half bursaries and scholarships for students who need financial aid. Bursary applications require letters of reference, so please apply early. Bursary decisions are made by a committee and are based on need and merit. We regret that we cannot give full bursaries to all students, but try to assist as many children and families as we can  through the generosity of corporations, businesses, individuals and some schools.
