Audition Boot Camp Weekend to be held at Ross Creek
Nova Scotia’s award-winning theatre company Two Planks and a Passion Theatre will be running a special Audition Boot Camp Weekend on February 17-19, 2012 at the Ross Creek Centre for the Arts. This intensive workshop led by professional instructors is designed to assist emerging artists who are either developing materials for theatre school auditions or preparing for professional audition opportunities in the theatre.
“The preparation for an audition can be a lonely and nerve-wracking experience for any actor,” says instructor and Two Planks Artistic Director Ken Schwartz. “This workshop is designed to help the individual artist gain confidence, learn from peers and receive valuable feedback on their chosen material.”
Faculty for the workshop includes Alexis Milligan, a graduate of George Brown Theatre School who recently appeared in Neptune theatre’s Frankenstein and Two Planks and a Passion Theatre’s Beowulf. As well as Ken Schwartz, a two-time graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and Merritt-Award winning director of recent productions such as Rockbound, The Crucible, and Beowulf for Two Planks and a Passion Theatre.
Space in the workshop is limited and participants are required to apply online below or by emailing artisticdirectors@twoplanks.com by February 10th, 2012 to reserve a place. Participants must be at least 16 years of age and should attach a theatrical resume, a brief description of what they hope to achieve through participating in the process, and what pieces they wish to work on.
Held here at Ross Creek, the workshop will provide both individual and group instruction to participants as well as meals and accommodations for the workshop period. Return transportation will be provided by Ross Creek’s shuttle bus from downtown Halifax for $15 plus HST each way.
The total cost to participate in these workshops is only $115, which includes all meals and heated gender-specific dormitory accommodations at Ross Creek’s winterized cabins. The program is made possible in part through funding support from The Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage.
For more information on these workshops, please email artisticdirectors@twoplanks.ca or call 902 582 3073.
