Community Hosting at Ross Creek

The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is a unique institution in Canada, bringing together the best in arts education for youth with community and professional artist programs. The Ross Creek Centre for the Arts is a research and development centre for music, dance, theatre, writing, visual art, architecture, film and other arts, and is proud to help facilitate the development of new art from around the world in wonderful facilities and on a spectacular farm in rural Nova Scotia.

Community Hosts are people from or living in Nova Scotia who love the arts and love people and our community. Community hosts act as ambassadors, welcoming artists at the centre to explore our own community, perhaps taking a group on a winery tour, or to Gaspereau Press or the Grand Pre National Historic Site or the Wolfville Farmer's Market.

Community Hosts might be asked to pick up artists at the airport or bus station, to drive them to where they can do their art (recently, an artist in residence needed to go to various shorelines to take photographs for a new show, for example), to host a group of artists on a tour of a local site or simply for a shopping trip to Frenchys or on a trail ride on the north mountain. We invite Community Hosts to come up with things to do and propose activities throughout the year. Ideally, community hosts will have a valid driver's license and their own transportation. Occasionally, the Ross Creek Van will be available for larger groups to go on an excursion.

Meet amazing and talented artists from across Canada and around the world and introduce them to your community. Get to know these people and have them get to know our history, our geography and our people.

Community hosts are invited to contact us at colony@artscentre.ca to arrange for an interview.
