History and Mission

Ken SchwartzChris O'NeillThe Ross Creek Centre for the Arts was founded as a part of a larger vision, which included its sister, Two Planks and a Passion Theatre, in 1992. The Centre was a later addition, coming into focus with a space of its own in 2001, and the construction began in 2003. Founded by husband and wife team of Ken Schwartz and Chris O’Neill, and part of the larger organisation that includes the national touring theatre as a separate operation, it is steadily achieving their vision of a multidisciplinary centre that serves working artists and helps creates the next generation of artists of all disciplines. The life long learning element has been an integral part of that vision since the Centre’s inception and we are glad to give emerging and established professional artists of all disciplines opportunities to enhance their skills, their craft and their impact.

The Centre now has a strong staff complement and is working to complete the rest of the facilities to ensure a wonderful master class experience for artists of all disciplines. Our ability to serve the performing arts as well as the individual creative pursuits is an important part of the philosophy of the centre and its attraction for artists who want to exchange ideas and gain new inspiration in their own field.
